Recruit for Spouses is a social enterprise with a mission I couldn’t admire more: helping military spouses find meaningful, sustainable employment.
If you’re not familiar with the challenges military spouses face, here’s the reality: constant relocations, postings that can change at short notice, and gaps in career progression. These factors mean a CV can look patchy to an untrained eye — but in truth, it’s often the story of someone who’s adaptable, resilient, and highly skilled.
Founded by the inspirational Heledd Kendrick, Recruit for Spouses works to connect these talented individuals with employers who value their skills. The roles vary — from project managers and engineers to administrators, designers, and marketing specialists — but what they all have in common is the ability to hit the ground running in diverse environments.
In my role as Fractional CEO, I’m working closely with Heledd and her brilliant team to amplify their mission, strengthen operations, and create more opportunities for spouses across the UK. That includes developing new partnerships with employers, ensuring recruitment processes are inclusive, and raising awareness among businesses of the hidden talent pool right under their noses.
The best part? Meeting spouses who have successfully stepped into new careers and hearing how that’s transformed not just their working life but their family life too. It’s proof that when businesses are willing to be flexible and open-minded, everyone wins.
